Myself as a Writer Blog 12

Writing to me can sometimes be fun and a way to open up my creative side. I absolutely love writing about topics that I feel strongly about or enjoy. I have done quite a bit of writing in high school and I am extremely thankful for that. I feel it took me to the next level as a writer. As my college career began, I feel as if I have progressed as a writer. When I am writing I usually will grab my laptop, which just so happens to be pink, and get into my most comfortable position on the couch. I usually do alot of prethinking and jotting down notes . I feel the notes keep me on topic and it helps me to focus on the subject I am writing about. When I feel a spurt of creativity I usually will continue to type until my fingers begin to hurt. That way I do not lose focus. I lose focus easily because my life is very busy and if I do not continue to type while I have my creative spurt I tend to lose concentration. When I lose concentration I will usually take a few minute break, play with my dog, or even grab a snack. Sometimes I get writer's block or I lose my wonderful ability to write. To cope with those roadblocks when writing my paper, I continue reading through my material and jot more notes down. No matter how dry the subject may be; I feel that by writing down little notes, it helps you obtain a little more knowledge. Thus removing that horrid writer's block. This helps me write in a way people are more inclined to be interested in. If I lose concentration that definately means others are going to as well. Prewriting is amazing when writing a paper. I always do a rough draft before I write my main paper. This helps me understand whether or not my paper is flowing. With my prewriting draft I will have someone read it and honestly tell me if my paper flows, or correct any grammatical errors. Then I will rewrite and write my paper until I feel confident enough to turn it in. I also make note cards for everything going into my paper. I feel it keeps me more organized and I am less apted to lose information when transfering it from my rough draft to my final paper. It also keeps me from losing my citations for my paper.I enjoy creative writing and when writing about topics I enjoy, I tend to take a little more time and effort into making my paper more enjoyable. Generally I strive to make my papers as perfect as I can achieve. I believe that if we had not written as many essays as we had in high school then I would be completely lost, and I would not have found the creative writer in myself.
